OnePlus Pad 2 Review

The Pad 2 is the follow-up to OnePlus’s original Android tablet (The Pad). On paper, the OnePlus Pad 2 is a premium flagship tablet that comes at an aggressive price point thanks to the power of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. But has the OnePlus Pad 2 brought enough changes, or has the company cut too many corners in pursuit of it? Let us find out:

Design

On the design front, the OnePlus Pad 2 comes with a unibody metal construction with a matte brushed texture for that premium look and feel. Despite its good looks, it also has a finish that reduces fingerprint marks and smudges, making your work more enjoyable. With a slim 6.49mm profile, the tablet has smooth, rounded edges on all sides for better ergonomics and comfortable grip during extended use. At 584g, it isn’t the lightest weight corner treatment in its class. However, you can utilize this with one hand for an augmented timeframe without much stretch or feeling exhausted.

The design is optimized for landscape usage, so it fits well in the hand when held horizontally. However, the portrait experience has a few issues. In portrait mode, the rear camera module is center-mounted at the top, which can impede the gripping of edges if you are holding it vertically. The flat top edge of the tablet encourages landscape-mode use but, in portrait mode, it feels a little awkward when you’re holding it.

Display and audio

The tablet boasts a 12.1-inch 3K LCD screen, making  it enjoyable when playing, watching, and general purpose use cases on the OnePlus Pad 2. A peak brightness of 900 nits means this tablet fares well outside, but some users have reported that it is difficult to see in direct sunlight due to glare from certain angles. That 144Hz refresh rate shines and more prominent, resulting in a smooth scrolling experience. Meanwhile, the tablet accommodates app-defined refresh rate selections, too, allowing users to force apps into running at 144Hz that might not otherwise support a high-refresh-rate mode natively.

The display measures around 500nits and supports Dolby Vision HDR, but only for content delivered via Netflix and Prime Video. OnePlus has packed a trio of image-enhancement features inside the “Display and Brightness” settings — Image Sharpener, Video Color Boost, Adaptive Detail Enhancement.

The Image Sharpener improves the resolution of low-quality images and videos, including third-party apps such as YouTube. Video Color Boost falls a little flat. On the other hand, it tries to turn SDR content into faux-HDR, but in our testing, it didn’t wow us. I ran it on a YouTube video that isn’t HDR, and enabling this feature crushed the black levels in some of the darker regions to an extent where details were lost.

Software and features

Running on Android 14 with OxygenOS 14.1, the Oneplus Pad2 includes several AI-focused features comparable to those in the OnePlus Nord 4. First, it brings the Smart Sidebar to this range, like on Nord 4 and Oppo Reno12 Pro, which gives access to assistive tools. If you are reading an article online, then on the position your si, debar is slide-open to enter two extra new options: “AI Speak” and “AI Summary,” situa,” d under the Reading Assistant. AI Speak — Read tested AI-generated text aloud, AI reading,, AI Summary. Taking you through what to do.

Open Canvas

Besides the AI-based features, OnePlus Pad 2 has Open Canvas ability to improve multitasking. First debuted with the company’s first foldable, Xiaomi Open is now available on tablets like OnePlus Pad 2. Open Canvas lets you open up to several apps in a split-screen view. You can direct them like a grid or stack them as pages within that. The split view moves to the taskbar when you launch another app or go back home. Allowing you to quickly jump right into where we left off. Open Canvas will provide three, and the fourth can be done using a floating window.

Performance and battery

The OnePlus 12 is one of the best-performing smartphones thanks to being powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800-Series. Paired with up to 12GB RAM. The tablet is more than up to the task of everyday usage, browsing, and some light gaming. It also fares just as well with its more recently demanding objectives. Like multitasking and running games that are very resource-heavy. Games Plus Pad will be one of the best mid-range Android tablets in terms of functions. It’s an all-around solid machine that checks off every requirement for a secondary. Foldable portable workhorse, content-wa, ching buddy. And even a gaming console with an impressive-looking screen.

Starting at Rs 39,999, the OnePlus Pad 2 is available in India. It offers a solid premium design and display and good battery life. It’s not too shabby, but the tablet goes up to 256GB for onboard storage, and there’s no microSD slot. At the same time, it lacks LTE connectivity.
