The BJP has announcing the first list of 99 candidates for the Maharashtra election to be took on November 20, 2024. The Bharatiya Janata Party election list springs to life when the political battle in the state heats up. Along with the major alliances and power shifts that provide a stage for such a high-stakes election.

Among the big names declared, one of the notable ones is Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Who will contest from his stronghold, Nagpur South West, a seat he has been representing for years? State BJP president Chandrashekhar Krishnarao Bawankule will contest from Kamthi. The nominations are reinforcing the BJP’s strategy of fielding experienced and influential leaders from strategic constituencies.

NDA Alliance: BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde), and NCP (Ajit Pawar)
The seat-sharing talks of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) were held at Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s residence in a crucial meeting on Friday. Some of the important faces present in this meeting were Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, and former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The alliance that includes BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) has chalked out 240 seats. Seat sharing is still being discussed for the remaining 48.
Reportedly, this alliance directly pits against the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), led by Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena, which is of the UBT faction, Sharad Pawar’s NCP, and Congress. This contest is likely to be hard-pressed to win in all 288 constituencies of the Maharashtra assembly.
Election Strategy of Bharatiya Janata Party
While the BJP has been keen on contesting around 150 seats, seat-sharing negotiations with its allies are vital. With an understanding to swap seats in some areas to mitigate anti-incumbency sentiments, the parties have strategized outswapping alliance as part of their strategy. This will help improve chances in constituencies where voters have shown dissatisfaction with sitting representatives.

Bharatiya Janata Party: Maharashtra Election Schedule
Polling for the elections is propose to be held in a single phase on November 20, 2024. The counting of votes will take place on November 23. The two big alliances are likely to make this election into a closely watched contest as the term of the 288-member Maharashtra Legislative Assembly ends on November 26.
Maharashtra has 9.63 crore voters, of which 4.97 crore voters are men and 4.66 crore women, while over 20 lakh of them were first-time voters, said Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, citing the fact that there exist 1,00,186 polling stations all over the state which will encourage heavy participation from voters.
A High-Stakes Political Battle
The election to the new Maharashtra state legislative assembly promises to be a drama. Various rival factions within the Shiv Sena and NCP will face off against each other. Besides the familiar battle between BJP and Congress. Unlike in the past, when both Shiv Sena and NCP have been intact since their inception. Recent splits in both of them presented a dramatic shift in the political setup during the 2019 election. This election was a true test of loyalty and leadership for all parties involved.
