The news came in that 3 UPSC Aspirants lost their lives at their coaching center due to basement flooding. Massive protests were seen late last evening when the young candidates faced death after becoming trapped in the basement of a well-known coaching institution Rau’s IAS in Delhi.
The victims have been identified as 28-year-old Navin Delvin, 25-year-old Shreya Yadav, and Tania Soni. Navin lived in Kerala, Tania was from Telangana, and Shreya was from Uttar Pradesh. They all moved to Delhi with the hope and dreams of cracking the Civil service exam like millions of others in Delhi and serving the nation.
Police Complaint Against Rau’s IAS
A complaint has been indeed filed against the educational institute. According to M Harsha Vardhan, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central). “Case registered under BNS sections 105, 106 (1), 115 (2), 290 and 35.” This lawsuit is directed against the coaching center, the building’s management, and the individuals involved in maintaining the drainage system. The owner and coordinator of that coaching center have already been taken into custody. More inquiries are being conducted through the authority
Official End of the search operation of the UPSC Aspirants
The NDRF’s search for other survivors in the coaching centre has come to an end. Literally after seven hours of continous work. In response to the tragic deaths in the basement, many students held a strong protest outside the coaching centre and chanted anti-authority chants.
Five fire engines were sent to help with the rescue team after the fire department received an emergency report. It was 7:19 p.m. yesterday when they got the news of students trapped in the basement fighting for life. The National Disaster Response Force provided additional help to the rescue team. However hours after the rescue operation started, Tania and Shreya’s bodies were removed. It was later in the evening that Navin’s body was found lifeless.
“Three bodies have been recovered,” DCP Vardhan declared following the closing of the NDRF search operation. The NDRF’s rescue effort lasted for almost seven hours.” According to the DCP, police are watching CCTV footage to figure out the order of events. Trying to investigate according to it. According to the police, it looked like the basement flooded quickly, trapping several persons within without giving them enough time to escape
Requests to the government
The mayor of Delhi has called for a strict investigation to see whether any MCD staff were involved in the incident. Swati Maliwal, meanwhile, stated that a formal and immediate complaint need to be filed against each of the important government figures.
In a statement, she mentioned, “Strong action should be taken furthermore against all such coaching centres too across Delhi that are under the MCD’s jurisdiction and running commercial activities in basements that are in violation of building bye-laws and are not as per norms, immediately.”
Backgrounds of the Late UPSC Aspirants
The oldest of three siblings, Shreya Yadav, had kust traveled to the nation’s capital in April this year to prepare for the civil services. His two younger siblings are still attending school, and his father has a dairy farm in Uttar Pradesh. Dharmendra Yadav, his uncle, lives in Ghaziabad. He was the first member of the family getting the news of the catastrophe that had happened late last night.
