Delhi Dust Storm News: A day after sections of the cities were battered by light rain and gusty winds, Delhi experienced another dust storm on Friday night. Despite heatwave warnings, these thundersqualls have contributed to a decrease in temperatures in the capital city and its surrounding areas.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), during the previous 24 hours, the city’s maximum temperature decreased by up to 1 degree Celsius and its minimum temperature decreased by 3 degrees Celsius.

Videos of the intense Delhi dust storm, which even caused tree branches to fall in certain places and stopped traffic, were posted on social media. One person was killed in the Madhu Vihar area when a wall of a structure that was still under construction collapsed due to the dust storm. There were two more injured.

“On April 11 and 12, there is a high probability of isolated thunderstorms (wind speeds of 50 to 60 kmph) over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi, Rajasthan,” according to the IMD’s press release. The IMD predicted on Friday that the wind speed would drop to less than 20 km/h from the northeast at night.
