Vidhu Vinod Chopra won the Best Director Filmfare award on Sunday night in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, and his movie 12th Fail was chosen as the finest film of the year. At the 2024 Filmfare Awards, Bollywood’s power couple Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor won the top prize. Veteran actors Shefali Shah and Rani Mukerji were named best actress (critics) for Mrs Chatterjee vs. Norway and Three Of Us, respectively, and best actor (critics) for the film’s lead actor, Vikrant Massey.
The Filmfare Awards, one of the oldest cinematic accolades in the nation, recognizes the best in Hindi cinema every year and announces the winners in both the critics’ and public categories. The awards were presented in their 69th edition this year. Among the performers during the event were Kareena Kapoor, Krisma Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, and Kartik Aaryan. Karan Johar and Ayushmann Khurrana served as hosts. For his role in Animal, actor Ranbir Kapoor received best actor (popular), while for her role in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, his wife Alia Bhatt won best actress (popular) at Filmfare.
