Maharashtra Assembly Election: Congress denies rift in MVA alliance, seat allocation finalized

In a pre-election scenario of the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections, Congress party dismissed the rumors regarding differences within the Maha Vikas Aghadi, an alliance that consisted of Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and Nationalist Congress Party led by Sharad Pawar. Congress leaders said that all was well in the MVA alliance and it will release the list of its candidates for all seats on Saturday evening.

Maharashtra Congress in-charge Ramesh Chennithala said that the MVA alliance was not facing some kind of tension, according to media reports. The meeting of the Congress Central Election Committee (CEC) in Delhi was followed by the refutation of such reports from Chennithala that everything was fine in the alliance. He said the MVA did not have the kind of internal problems that the rival BJP-led Mahayuti coalition might have, which would prove to be a trouble in their collaboration. “The problem is in Mahayuti. We are all together, and we are working out a formula.”.

The meeting was also attended by Congress leaders like Balasaheb Thorat, who was directed by Chennithala to consult with MVA allies—Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray and NCP leader Sharad Pawar—to sort out any minute problems concerning seat allocation.

Maharashtra Assembly: Seat-Sharing Formula Finalized for 255 Seats by MVA

Recently, the MVA alliance made public its seat-sharing plan for the Maharashtra Assembly polls. The three main constituents are Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (Sharad Pawar faction). Each will contest 85 seats across the state. Apart from the 255 seats already earmarked for the three main parties. The remaining 23 seats will be divided between the other alliance parties depending on the candidate lists they present, as per the influence and preferences of each party.

Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole also confirmed the merger and progress within the coalition. He said that regarding seat distribution, the agreement had been reached, though not finalized. He has confirmed that MVA is well-prepared in preparation for the elections and stated steps toward candidate finalization

The CEC of the Congress party met on Friday at Delhi headquarters of the AICC. The party is mainly finalizing candidates for the upcoming polls in Maharashtra. Reports coming from Chennithala indicate that the candidates lists are almost final. The All India Congress Committee has an expectation that by the evening of Saturday. It could issue a formal announcement related to all seats being part of MVA’s allocation plan.

“We will contest the election together,” Chennithala declared. He added that some final steps are in progress so that the coalition function very efficiently and seamlessly together. Thorat’s meetings with Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar should also resolve most of the issues. Hence, the alliance would get united.

Strong Counter Reactions to the Crisis-Ridden Opponent Coalition:

Chennithala said that the very nature in which MVA stands together is different from the very challenges pose to the Mahayuti coalition. Is led by the BJP, under whose wings other parties include Shiv Sena, especially the Shinde faction, among several others. According to him, it is in comparison to how the Mahayuti has faced much tougher problems primarily. Deal with the division of seats by the count for each side, aside from internal power contests.
