Gautam Gambhir Shares the News
Gambhir expressed his joy at being back together with the Kolkata Knight Riders. “I’ve returned. I’m famished. My number is 23. @KKRiders, Ami KKR.” — November 22, 2023, Gautam Gambhir (@GautamGambhir)
After resigning as captain of the Lucknow Super Giants, Gautam Gambhir wrote a poignant message on social media. Gambhir has been associated with LSG since the KL Rahul-led team’s founding in 2022. As the team’s leader and collaborator with head coach Andy Flower, who resigned earlier in the season, Gambhir was a crucial component of the Lucknow Super Giants organisation. For the next campaign, Lucknow hired Justin Langer, the Australian coach who indeed won the T20 World Cup.
“As I announce the end of my impeccable journey with Lucknow Super Giants, I am filled with love and immense gratitude towards all the players, coaches, support staff and every individual who has made this journey memorable,” Gambhir said in a statement announcing his departure.
“I want to express my gratitude to Dr. Sanjiv Goenka for his outstanding guidance in building this amazing business and for his unwavering support of all of my undertakings. I have no doubt that the group will succeed in the future and bring pride to all LSG supporters. “Best wishes, LSG Brigade!”
Former India opener as KKR Mentor
Gambhir will return to the Kolkata Knight Riders, the team he led to prominence, with mixed emotions. After KKR, which is co-owned by Shah Rukh Khan, struggled in the first three years of the IPL, Gambhir was an inspired captain who guided the team to two titles. In a statement, KKR stated that Gautam Gambhir will rejoin the team as “Mentor.” And work alongside head coach Chandrakant Pandit.
Gambhir had a really historic relationship with KKR from 2011 until 2017. The squad also said that during this time it qualified for the playoffs five times, won the championship twice, and advanced to the Champions League T20 finals in 2014. After leaving KKR to play for the Delhi Capitals, Gambhir however became a coach at LSG.
