BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Facelift Photos Reveal

The recently update 2 Series Gran Coupe has yet to be made official by BMW. One of those spy shots even shows the sedan coupe with the long-wheelbase guise. Primarily, it seems to be a facelift model of the one sold in India.

Latest BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe facelift vs old

Leaked pictures reveal the new with some significant changes to its front end when compared to the current model. The facelifted 2 Series Gran Coupe now adopts the look of the recently updated 1-Series line-up. This minor nip-and-tuck keeps BMW’s four-year-old as per its latest design theme.

Styled by Christopher Weil, the updated look sees a repositioned front. Including sharper creases and upward-swept headlamps with more spread-out dual kidney grille. Alternatively, The front bumper has a wide chin with a massive air dam split into three parts (two at the two ends ).

The M Sport model featured here goes for more blacked-out elements. Whereas the standard models will wear plenty of shiny bits instead. Besides the new headlights and taillights, not much has happened to the sides or in these doors. Which look pretty unaltered from those of a pre-facelift car.

While in the rear, there is a more squared boot design alongwith new BMW X1-like taillamps. However, the position for license plates has now been shifted. As they will all sit between taillamps rather than at the rear bumper.

The wheelbase length for the 2 Series sedan LWB that’s received a refresh is around 110mm longer. Than the model we get in India. It has an elongated rear door and a lower roofline than that of the standard-length sedan.

These are leaked shots of the LWB version, which is sold exclusively in China. And mostly competes with Mercedes-Benz’s own A-Class sedan. As for the model seen in these leaked images, it is a BMW M 235 L, which is likely to be all of that except with sporty licks and possibly a stretched wheelbase. Like the China-only Mercedes-AMG A 35 L sedan, marking that country’s first (and likely only) AMG long-wheelbase model beyond — although it would be smart for global markets as well.

Look for the same styling tweaks that have been implemented on the LWB 2 Series Gran Coupe to be featured on regular coupe sedan models. Series production for the standard wheelbase model is said to start as early as November this year, so expect the India launch to take place next year.
