MG Motor India recently teased its upcoming electric vehicle, the Windsor Droptop, and it’s all set to be unveiled in the country on September 11. The Indian version sees the Cloud EV name being replace by a new one.
EV Battery & Range
The Windsor EV (Wuling Cloud EV) available abroad gets two battery pack options: a 37.9kWh and a 50.6kWh, providing ranges of up to around 360km or up to about 460 km, respectively. The front-axle-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor is 134hp. Currently, it is unclear which version might be sell here.
MG Windsor EV design & features
While the Windsor EV does not look like its try-hard ‘European’ design brief, it measures around 4.3m in length and rides on a wheelbase of about 2,700mm. Though it has a stance and shape similar to an MPV format, it will offer a 5-seat configuration only.
Inside, the Windsor EV will be equipped with a large floating touch screen and not many buttons. It also recently announced that the Gloster will get rear AC vents, a three-passenger bench and dedicated three-point seat belts for all passengers on each of the outer seats, plus an electronically controlled dampening tailgate as standard alongside faux leather embossed with large honeycomb pattern stitching. The rear seats will recline as much as 135 degrees.
MG Windsor EV price, rivals
EV will be price under Rs 20 lakh and slot beneath ZS EV in the company’s battery-power portfolio, where it goes up against the likes of Tata NexonEV, Mahindra XUV400, as well as the recently launch Tata CurvvEV.
