Mercedes-Benz achieved a new sales high in India, with 13% growth in sales in 2024.

Mercedes-Benz was not behind when it comes to news on sales performance, as the company posted spectacular 13 percent growth year-over-year sales for cars in India during the first nine months of 2024. It sold a total of 14,379 units between January and September 2024 to register the best performance yet by Mercedes-Benz in India for any nine-month period. Such sales reflect not only the robustness of the brand but also the robustness in terms of market presence in the premium car space.

Well, Mercedes-Benz India notched up a very strong Q3 of the year 2024, with July-September sales crossing the 5,117-unit mark, displaying an impressive growth of 21% over the same period in the previous year. Such phenomenal growth further cements the brand’s popularity in the Indian consumer market, particularly in the luxury car segment, which has seen ups and downs without an iota of hesitation ever since it started growing.

The fact that “it bucks the industry trend”, says the company, testifies to a robust strategy and an innovative product lineup, coupled with unstinted demand for premium cars. A bounce in sales performance also took place at a time when there was a broader global push for luxury vehicles and electric mobility, which has been pivotal in driving the company’s growth.

Mercedes-Benz Electric Vehicle Sales Grow 84%

Perhaps the most outstanding achievement of Mercedes-Benz India has been in its sales performance, particularly in the battery electric vehicle, or BEV, segment, which it claims has surged 84% in sales from January to April 2024 with 800 cars. This puts Mercedes at the top of the market for electric vehicles in the luxury car space in India.

Many factors, ranging from the Indian government’s push for greener mobility to enhanced infrastructure and environmental consciousness among consumers, have led to increased adoption of electric vehicles. In fact, Mercedes-Benz has been proactive in building on this trend by launching high-end electric models catering to luxury car buyers who seek an eco-friendly vehicle.

Top-end vehicle sales stood at 18% growth.

High-end Mercedez-Benz products are also up by 18% in the first nine months of 2024. These would be flagship models and premium products that include the S-Class, GLS, and more luxury variants attractive to higher end consumers.

Demand for the premium variants only reflects that, even in fluctuating economic conditions, the Indian cream class does have a huge appetite for its luxury vehicles. The success of these cars also hints towards brand commitment on delivering to the best in terms of technology, performance, and luxury.

Future Outlook: 2024 And Beyond Maintaining Growth Mercedes-Benz

With this growth in India, the company’s thrust is in sustaining this momentum with regard to product enhancement, customer experience, and electric mobility. Much would depend on how well the brand navigates these changes: shifting consumer preference trends, changing regulatory environments, and further intensification of competition.

Given this strong foundation, creative approach, and customer-centric strategy, Mercedes-Benz is well-placed to corner the Indian luxury car market as it goes further with time.
