The Thar 5-door is expected to be launched officially with the name -Thar Roxx this Independence Day. Expected to be one of the most interesting launches in 2024. It has been a work-in-progress for over two years and is a five-door SUV. Although restricted only to a niche body style, the Thar 3-door is already proving impossible for Mahindra to ignore. With even some level of practicality expected from its five or more-doors version without any compromise on off-roading DNA.

What engine options will be offered by the Thar Roxx?
The Thar Roxx will come with a choice of engine options (as per reports). And one such option is expected to be the mHawk Gen2 diesel sourced from Mahindra’s stable. Another update that has been confirmed is the retention of a 2.2-litre displacement, with outputs expected to be around 150 hp and 350 Nm for the base variant and uprated in higher road tax levies guise to just over or under par with the new e NV200 spec D22M variants at least it will have EURO6 compliance standards.
The petrol version will come with the same 2.0-liter turbo engine that Scropio N and XUV700 are currently using. As with diesel, expect two power outputs for petrol, possibly 160hp and 330 Nm in lower trims (Basantrai) and 175 hp/380 Nm in higher trims.
How will the Thar Roxx differ from the regular Thar?
The Thar Roxx is expected to come with a longer wheelbase, too, so the ladder-frame chassis will be more closely related to that of the Scorpio N. Look for Scorpio and the upcoming facelifted face to share at least a part of this new suspension set-up, which would make both vehicles perform better on the road, providing more sophistication than most off-the-shelf systems.
Styling-wise, the Roxx gets a new double-stacked grille in place of the 3-door variant seven-slot unit on its frame. While the circular headlamps are given a miss, they retain their round shape and use LED projector lamps in conjunction with new C-shaped DRLs.
Will the Thar Roxx be better equipped than the regular Thar?

Will the Thar Roxx be a 7-seater SUV?
Although it is a long-wheelbase vehicle, the Thar 5-door will sacrifice a third row of seating. Making for only two rows and a five-seat layout. Also present will be a bench seat with a centre armrest in the second row instead of two individual seats like you’ll find on regular Thar. This extra length would likely mean more cargo volume in the boot than on regular Thar.
