After winning six Primetime Emmy Awards and one Golden Globe, Netflix’s most-watched series of 2021, Squid Game, completed its second season on the OTT platform. However, the finale was not what many had hoped for. But, thankfully, the announcement of season 3 was stashed away in the teaser, which was quickly made available.
The video, which stars the frightening robot duet Young Hee and her newly revealed partner Chul Su, was originally scheduled to be published on June 27, 2025. However, this information, along with the trailer, vanished swiftly from Netflix Korea’s YouTube page. It left fans perplexed and waiting for confirmation.

Both seasons were produced simultaneously. Thus Hwang created a massive 14-episode arc that was split between two seasons. It contributed to the three-year delay. Netflix has recently used a “split a new season of a popular series in half” release schedule. This is usually 4 and 4 or 5 and 5 and around a month apart. Here, six months apart, with seven-hour episodes each? Sure, I suppose I’ll give them the “season 3” badge in this situation.
Why so soon? Again, I believe Netflix understands that viewers want season 2’s cliffhangers resolved as quickly as possible. However, the way they are spacing out content suggests that they will most likely spend the second half of 2025 on its other two huge programs.
