Lamborghini Temerario succeeds Huracan

Lamborghini is unveiling today at the ongoing Monterey Car Week its long-awaited successor to the Huracan: The Temerario. The junior supercar from Lamborghini brings up to 920hp when calling on it’s engine and electric powertrain-bolstered plant. The design is typical of Lamborghini, looking like an evolution of the Huracan and influenced by the flagship Revuelto inside.

Lamborghini Temerario powertrain and specs

Forget the atmospheric 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 that has powered Sant’Sant’Agata’sor supercars since 2003. Like the regular version, instead of a V12, there is now a new 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine for the Temerario, complete with three electric motors and their accompanying battery pack. The hot-V layout refers to twin-scroll turbochargers positioned in the V-section between the two cylinder banks of this ground-up engine.

The electric motors consist of one between the flat-plane crankshaft and a new 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox linked with the ICE and another two at the front axle. These electric motors work as a torque-fill at low revs to help counter turbo lag from the big high-pressure turbos. According to Lamborghini, there is a built-in limit where the Temerario can drive around in full electric front-wheel drive mode for at least some distance—though an exact EV-only raised—and one assumes it ends as soon enough as you jump on the throats tle or make any particular demands of its performance.

But it certainly is not the most compelling tech news on the Temerario. Instead, that would be the 10,000rpm redline of its new 4.0-liter V8 engine; Lamborghini client it’s its most powerful and highest-revving V8 ever fitted to a production car. In standard form, it generates 800hp at 9,000-9,750rpm, while the redline is pegged at a sky-high of 10,000rpm.

The gearbox-mounted electric motor generates an output of 150hp and partners with axle-mounted motors generating around 82 hp each, supplied by a set of lithium-ion battery packs with combined storage capacity rated at about just under four kWh. The total system output is now 920hp (927PS) and has an insane peak torque of about 800Nm. By comparison, the most potent Huracan was the STO, which developed 640hp. Lamborghini says this package will deliver 0-100kph in just 2.7 seconds and a top speed of over 340kph.

Its battery can be recharged in about 30 minutes through a standard AC plug with up to seven kilowatts of power, using regenerative braking technology or directly from the V8 engine.

Lamborghini Temerario chassis, components

For the Temerario, Lamborghini has done away with the carbon fiber and aluminum architecture of the Huracan in favor of an all-aluminum spaceframe. The brand even maintains that this new design raised torsional rigidity by 20 percent and helps keep weight but still almost tips the scales at a relatively high 1715kg dry. The track-focused Alleggerita (‘lightened) package can shave that weight back down to 1690kg, thanks mainly to a carbon fiber rear wing and unique bumper treatments along with those brighter rims.

Please note that while the Temerario is essentially AWD, there’s a Drift mode —a first for Lamborghini— which sends power strictly to either rear tire at three levels of aggression. Other driving modes include Citta (FWD, full electric), Strada, and Corsa. The car is also fitted with 410mm aluminum disc rotors and 10-piston brake calipers up front and smaller units measuring just over 15 inches (390mm), grabbing four-pot calipers for the rear. The Temerario says Lamborghini will stop the clock from 100kph to zero in just 32 meters.

Exterior of the Lamborghini Temerario

To even lay eyes on the Temerario is to know that only a Lamborghini badge has business occupying its hood. The Huracan, as a quick and substantial analysis makes clear (a new design for sure but undeniably related in many respects to the Revuelto anyway), has a visual relationship with both the Lamborghini Gallardo preceding it.

The fascia includes slender, swept-back LED headlamps at the corners of the bonnet (which, to these eyes, resemble those we saw on the Ferrari SF90) and hexagon-shaped separate LED daytime running lamps down low beside that bumper. Then there are elements from the Huracan, too, with a couple of additional vents in the bonnet and flared wheel arches at each corner. The prominent bumper looks pointier than that on its sister car; however, it takes advantage of hexagon motifs throughout – typical Lamborghini detail – and incorporates a carbon fiber splitter up front.

Interior of the Lamborghini Temerario

The cabin is much like the Revuelto one, but it features a Lambo fighter jet-inspired cockpit this time. The driver gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. A 4-inch infotainment screen that floats in the center of the dash, and another slim 9.1-inch passenger display, too. The cabin has hexagonal motifs on elements such as the AC vents, switchgear, and infotainment system graphics. The center console carries over the drive and mode selector buttons and that fighter jet-style push start/stop button. The car retains some physical switchgear for functions such as the steering wheel and center console. With most secondary features housed within screens.

FAQs

Q: What is this Lamborghini Temerario?

The Lamborghini Temerario is Fiesta’s follow-up to the Huracan. And it’ll also pack a heavy punch courtesy of its hybrid powertrain with up to 920hp.

Q: Which engine will power the Lamborghini Temerario?

Power for the Temerario comes from a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 plus three electric motors. Its plug-in hybrid powertrain combines to deliver approximately 920hp.

Q: What about the Lamborghini Temerario? Hopefully, it will develop faster than this.

The Lamborghini Temerario will make the 0-100kph sprint in just 2.7 seconds and reach a top speed of over 340kph.

Q: What makes the interior of the Lamborghini Temerario special?

Inside, you will find a fighter jet-inspired cockpit with a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. An intersection of 4 inches for the infotainment system and another one with nine points for four passengers.
