The “queen” of pop, Taylor Swift, and K-pop star and BTS member Jungkook are about to engage in a heated rivalry. Among the seven members of the K-pop group, the youngest one is demonstrating tremendous sales power in the US with both his albums and singles. The 3D singer made his solo debut in 2023 and has since become a major force in the music industry, taking on a number of well-known stars. Prior to 2022, he was not in the same league.
Billboard Chart is dominated by Jungkook, surpassing Taylor Swift
The K-pop phenomenon has dethroned the world’s best-selling musician, according to Billboard’s most current sales data as of December 13. With his most recent song, Standing Next To You, BTS’s lead vocalist has taken the top place on the Billboard ranking-Digital Song Sales chart once again. The song is the lead single from Jungkook’s November 3 release of his debut album GOLDEN.
For those who don’t know, the top-selling singles in the US are included on the Digital Song Sales chart. The vocalist of Lover usually holds the top place on the weekly updated chart. With her song You’re Losing Me, Taylor Swift was number one last week. But Jungkook overtook her and climbed the rankings.
Standing Next to You sold more than Jack Harlow’s Lovin’ on Me
With his smash single Standing Next To You, the Seven crooner not only dethroned Taylor Swift but also outsold Jack Harlow’s Lovin’ on Me, which came in second, by over 5,000 copies. Golden’s song is the only one in America this week to sell at least 10,000 copies, according to Billboard statistics. For those who don’t know, the song has sold over 80,000 copies. Made its chart debut in the middle of November and remained there until its most recent accomplishment.
The BTS members are expected to reconvene in 2025, having all enrolled in the military. The eldest member of BTS, Jin, enlisted in the military in 2022. And may get instruction from Jungkook and Jimin, who enlisted as companion soldiers last.
