Labuschagne (111), who had not reached 100 since December 2022, and Marsh (31*) combined with 103 runs to lead Australia to 214/5 at stumps on the penultimate day, behind by 61 runs, following an almost four-hour delayed start on day 4.

Marsh and Cameron Green stayed unbroken when Joe Root took the sole wicket of the day, and the last session was also called off due to rain. When England comes out to bat on day 5, the two Australian all-rounders will now want to frustrate them even more. On days 1 and 2, there were no delays brought on by bad weather at Old Trafford. But on day three, there was some delay brought on by showers, and on day four, rain ruined things. On the penultimate day of the test, when England will attempt to tie the series, rain is also expected.

As England looks to tie the series, which they now trail 1-2. Ben Stokes and company will be hoping they have enough time to take five more Australian wickets. The fourth test’s Day 5 weather forecast in Manchester does not bode well for the home team because the entire day is expected to be filled with rain. It is anticipated that the daytime temperature would range between 16 and 17 degrees Celsius. On July 23, the Weather report predicts rain in Manchester with a 98 percent chance of precipitation. A 20 percent risk of thunderstorms between the hours of 5 AM and 10 AM local time.

On day five, Sunday, rains are predicted to begin after an hour of dry weather. Then again from 12 PM to 2 PM Local Time and once again from 4 PM. Local Time to roughly 8 PM Local Time. There is therefore limited chance of play. The sky is predicted to be cloudy the entire day. Predicted 76 percent cloud cover increasing to 98 percent in the evening. According to Weather.com, today’s chances of rain are 90%. So, on day 5 of the Fourth Ashes Test in Manchester in 2023, the weather is probably going to ruin things once more.
